After the graphic novel about Auschwitz, I am working on a new project. A biographical graphic novel about Johann Baptist Reichhart, the last German executioner. He lived from 1893 to 1972.
He practiced his profession during the Weimar Republic, the National Socialist dictatorship and in post-war Germany. He executed common criminals, opponents of the Nazi regime and, after the war, members of the SS and war criminals on behalf of the Americans. In total, over 3,000 people died under his guillotine or by hanging. On May 29, 1948, he hanged 14 members of the SS for the last time. After that, he refused to carry out any further death sentences.
